Audio Visual Devices

 

Including, but not limited to - iPod, MP3, PSP, DVD players,  etc

 

Rationale:

Mobile electronic items can be a useful piece of technology in today’s society, provided their use is appropriate.  However, they can disrupt the learning environment and account for much of students’ lateness to class.

 

Policy Directive:

STUDENTS ARE PERMITTED TO USE THESE DEVICES:

 

STUDENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO USE THESE DEVICES AT SCHOOL:

 

THESE DEVICES ARE TO BE TURNED OFF AT ANY OTHER TIME

THEY ARE NOT TO BE USED FOR ANY OTHER PURPOSE

 

Consequences:

Breaching of the rules will result in the following:

First Offence

Confiscated for 24hrs (overnight) – parents informed, item returned end of next school day

Second Offence

Confiscated for 3 days – returned at end of  3rd school day

Third Offence

Confiscated for 1 week (7 days) – returned at end of  7th school day

Fourth Offence

Parent meeting with the Director of Community and the Year  Co-ordinator.  Action taken determined by Welfare Co-ordinator and member of the Executive.
