Principal's Welcome

I would like to personally welcome you to Hennessy Catholic College Young which exists to serve the Catholic communities of the Western Region of the Archdiocese of Canberra Goulburn in the spirit of Nano Nagle and Blessed Edmund Rice. We are very mindful of our Presentation Sisters and Christian Brothers heritage and like them look to the signs of the times and respond accordingly with love and compassion.

The College offers students and teachers a dynamic and caring environment in which to learn and grow in harmony. All are welcome and nurtured.

At Hennessy we strive to uphold our College mission of:

Live Spiritually

Learn Dynamically

Act Justly

... Inspiring futures of hope

Catering for a diverse regional community Hennessy provides a quality education for all students in a safe and pastoral setting. The student population is rapidly growing and Hennessy has demonstrated it is able to adapt and cater for the needs and interests of all students in this period of expansion. We are proud of new Trade Training Facilities and the College Hall which enhance the learning experiences of all students. Ongoing capital improvements to the college will further enhance the environment for quality learning to thrive.

Hennessy is building a proud holistic culture of excellence both in and out of the classroom, with students achieving outstanding results in most areas of endeavor. We have high expectations for all students who enter Hennessy and expect that they achieve their personal best, whichever path they wish to take in life. The Co-curricular life encompassing sporting and cultural experiences provide the opportunity for all students to pursue their interests and represent the College and beyond if possible.

Our partnership with our parents is a vital part of the culture of excellence we seek to foster. We seek to work closely with parents and carers to ensure our students, your daughters and sons, achieve their personal best. This is strengthened by open and productive lines of communication that go both ways. The three way partnership of school, parent and child is the key to success.

Hennessy is developing partnerships with business organisations with the aim of providing further opportunities for our students and members of our community. Partners include: Australian Catholic University, NAB and Canberra Institute of Technology. These partnerships also involve all the Catholic schools of the diocese, in particular the western region who we strive to work closely with. It is our aim to further develop partnerships in 2015 and beyond.
