Crest & Colours

College Crest

The College crest was adopted in 1999, the planning year for the movement to a Year 7 to 12 secondary school in Young, renamed Hennessy Catholic College, which began operating in 2000. The crest and College motto appear on all official correspondence.

The crest depicts a Celtic Cross, the ancient symbol of the Christian faith in Ireland. This is an appropriate symbol for our College as both religious orders who laid the educational historical foundations of our College, the Presentation Sisters and the Christian Brothers, had their origins in Ireland.

The Star in the centre of the Cross is a symbol of Our Lady, Patroness of Australia.

College Motto

The School Motto "Seek the Truth" comes from John 8:32 and is to be found at the bottom right of the crest. It is these words which form the basis of all values promoted within the College.

College Colours

The School colours are gold and royal blue. They can be seen on the College crest and link back to our long heritage of Catholic education within the region. They are also found on the College banner and the junior boys tie. These colours remind us that as well as being individuals we are also a part of one school, united together as a College by our wearing of these same colours.
